The 11th Annual Brunswick Island’s Home & Garden Show will be held April 20-21 at Sea Trail Convention Center in Sunset Beach, NC.


Last years attendance for the two day event was over 1,000 people.


The Brunswick Island's Home and Garden Show displays products and services for the home and garden including landscaping, gardening, pool and spas, windows, outdoor grills, home décor, utilities, real estate and financial services, and resources for home construction or improvement.

Tie Up Your Sneakers for the Upcoming Races

Just in case you didn't know it, there are quite a few 5k and 10k races coming up soon in the area. If you’ve been training all year or are just trying stay in shape, consider entering any or all of them. A Race for the Cure 5K is being held from 8 a.m. to noon on March 2 in downtown Wilmington, NC. The Race for the Cure 5K raises money for the Susan G Koman Foundation. The race will take place in Downtown Wilmington at 2nd and Market Streets.

Get into the St. Patrick’s Day Spirit on March 16, 2013 at the Lucky Leprechaun 5k beginning at The Winds Resort! Wear Green and show your Leprechaun Spirit! The course is flat, fast and beautiful as it parallels the ocean along the east side of the island. Hundreds will come out to participate in the race along 1st and 2nd Streets on Ocean Isle. The crowd is usually a festive bunch, dressed in all shades of green with St. Patty’s Day flair. The race begins at 9am. There are several different race categories and many winners; the overall best time wins a free 2-day stay at The Winds. After the race, participants staying at The Winds are treated to a hamburger and hotdog lunch complete with all the fixings!

The Wrightsville Beach Marathon 5K takes place from 5-8 p.m. on March 16 at Mayfaire Town Center Event Field. The event is part of the exciting Marathon Madness in March. The entire marathon series includes a 1-Mile Fun Run, 5K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Marathon Relay. The 5K starts at Mayfaire Town Center and ends with a Pasta Dinner at the Marathon Expo at Mayfaire (separate admission fee). Registration for the run is $35.00 to $55.00

Winter Wine & Beer Walk - February 22

Wilmington will be having its Winter Wine & Beer Walk on Saturday, February 22 from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. downtown. This event is a tasting tour of some of Wilmington most popular restaurants and drinking spots. Tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25 and are limited; this fee includes 2 free samples at each location. This is a great way to discover new beers and different wines at places you already go, or a new bar or restaurant altogether! Evita! - Starting February 19

Evita is coming to Wilmington, this beautiful production is about Evita Duarte, a B-picture actress who became the wife of Argentinian president Juan Peron. It is being performed at Thalian Hall Wednesday, February 19 - Sunday, February 23 and Friday, February 28 - Sunday, March 2; times are Thursday - Sat 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $29 per person, and more information can be found at http://www.thalianhall.org or call at 910-632-2241

Carolina Chocolate Drops with L Shaped Lot Duo - February 26

The Grammy award winning Carolina Chocolate Drops are coming to the Brooklyn Arts Center on February 26, doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are General Admission: $23, Day of: $28 and VIP Balcony: $33. According to the New York Times: “They dip into styles of southern black music from the 1920s and '30s string- band music, jug-band music, fife and drum, early jazz and beam their curiosity outward. They make short work of their instructive mission and spend their energy on things that require it: flatfoot dancing, jug playing, shouting."

It’s time to Run to the Sun!!

The 26th annual Run to the Sun Car Show will be held March 20th - 22nd at the old Myrtle Mall Square site. It will feature classic, antique and exotic car and is South Carolina’s largest car and truck show. Last year they had over 3,200 participants and are expecting over 3,000 again this year.

There is no charge for spectators to view these cars and vendors will be on hand with food and classic auto memorabilia and accessories. The car show will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; they are hoping to raise $100,000. The show will run daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm and there will be nightlife events at participating business in Broadway at the Beach. This event is put on by the Pee Dee Street Rodders.

St. Patrick’s Day

It’s just around the corner and there is no place better to be on St. Patrick’s Day than the beach (other than Ireland). St. Patty’s Day falls on a Monday this year, so Saturday, March 15 seems to be the day for celebrating.

Myrtle Beach is having a FREE event downtown (between 8th Ave N and 9th Ave N) from noon-midnight and will feature live music all day by Elise Testone, Ben Fagan and the Holy City Hooligans, Bullfrog, Gravy-featuring The Asheville Horns and many more. They will have authentic Irish food and beverages (think Irish beers), there will be games and contest throughout the day and it sounds like a blast. North Myrtle Beach will be having a St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival. The parade will start at 9am and the festival is from 11am - 4pm. They will have over 125 vendors displaying arts and crafts and food vendors and Main Street businesses will have a variety of options for you to choose from. Wilmington will also be having a St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival. It will be held at Riverfront Park and will feature music, dancing and fun with the Wilmington Police Pipes & Drums, The Blarney Broughs, The Molly Malones and more. Summer Concert Series

The weather has gotten gorgeous and it’s time for some great free music with good friends in the park!! The Sunset Beach Summer Concert Series is starting back on May 28th, 2014 with The Craig Woolard Band as the first of these free Wednesday night concerts. These fun weekly concerts are held at the Village Park at Seaside Village, from 6:30 – 8:30 each Wednesday night (weather permitting). Bring a chair and some friends and come enjoy some wonderful bands!!

There will also be the Friday night concerts on Ocean Isle during the summer, these start at 6:30 too and are located at the Coastal Carolina Museum. So we hope to see you on Wednesdays and Fridays!!
