There's Nothing Ghoulish About the Hotels Around Here, Honest

Some people get a little skiddish around this time of year. They peek around corners, look over their shoulders, and check under the bed at night. Even when they don’t do these things it feels like the right thing to do. Why? Because Halloween is approaching and for many, that means paranoia! Nobody wants to be caught by surprise and have the daylights scared out of them!

Just because you may be coming to the beach for a vacation, doesn’t mean you can escape the ghoulishness of Halloween. This time of year ghosts and goblins run amuck no matter where you are. So when you’re looking at Ocean Isle Beach hotels where you can stay you just might want to come on over to Sunset Beach and stay at The Sunset Inn instead.

Unlike at some Ocean Isle Beach hotels there’s no need to check under the bed when you’re with us. But if you decide to go out, be careful where you venture. There are some scary happenings taking place in the area.

For instance, the Panic Attack Haunted Attraction is the largest, most elaborate, scariest, wildest, bloodiest, most intense haunted house the area has ever seen. Hollywood-quality special effects, elaborate sets, and terrifying live actors will scare you and exploit your deepest fears. The shocking and twisted journey through the Panic Attack is like a bad dream gone worse that sends you into a blood-curdling, psychological massacre of fears, phobias and haunts. It’s taking place now through Nov. 2, 6-11 p.m. Thursdays, 6 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday at 1290 South 15th Street, Wilmington, NC.

The Hatching has begun! Visit Brunswick County Beachest to Witness the Baby Sea Turtles

This is such an exciting time to visit Sunset Beach, NC, Holden Beach, NC and Ocean Isle Beach NC. After months of dicovering Sea Turtle Nests the hatching has finally begun

!
The mother Sea Turtles start to come ashore in May and lay there eggs by the dunes. Volunteers with the Sea Turtle Watch Program then tour the beach night and day to look for the nests, mark them, and then they wait.

After about 50 to 60 days the hatching begins and it is a glorious sight!

Volunteers come back when they know it is getting close so they can be there to guide the baby sea turtles to the water. When the eggs are ready to hatch it is called a boil because they flow out of the nest like boiling water. There can be as many as 160 eggs so you can imagine how much help they need to make it to the water safely.( If you are vacationing they ask that you take up all beach equipment and fill in holes and knock down sand castles near the nest and trenches so they can have a smooth trail to the water.)

Sunset Beach has 19 nests this year. Holden Beach is ready to break the there record from 1999 with 69 nests, and Ocean Isle has marked quite a few as well. And the mother Turtles are still coming ashore to lay eggs. August through October is a great time to visit our area so you can be here to witness this amazing and once in a lifetime event. For more information about the Nests you can visit the Sunset Beach turtle patrol website at www.sunsetbeachturtles.org or visit www.hbturtlewatch.org

Holden Beach also hosts a turtle talk every Wednesday night by the foot of the bridge at 7:00 p.m. until Labor Day.If you can't make it to the talk then don't hesitate to approach a volunteer on the beach because they love to answer any questions you have and can tell you the best chance of seeing a nest boil over with these cute and tiny sea creatures.

Call and make your reservation with us at The Sunset Inn today so you can be one of the lucky vacationers and have stories to tell your friends for years to come. Beautiful Sunset Beach is here and calling your name!

If You're Looking For an Ocean Isle Beach Hotel During the Sailfish Classic

The Cape Fear Sailfish Classic takes place on Friday and Saturday, August 9 and 10, 2013. This is an open tournament for all fisherman, targeting Captains and their crews from Wrightsville Beach to the west side of the Shoals at Ocean Isle Beach. It will be a weekend of fun and festivities, cash payouts, Champions Trophy and bragging rights.

This is an all-release event, designed to promote fun and exciting fishing that occurs nearshore every year as the waters warm and the Gulf Stream eddies push inward. Captains will fish as far "offshore" as the Tower, and the boundaries are defined as the Dallas Rock to Schoolhouse and Parking Lot Areas off of Wrightsville to 23 mile Rock, west to the Jungle/Hammer areas off of Ocean Isle.

The event is a 2 day fishing tournament, commencing with a pig-picking Captains meeting at the Wightsville Beach Marina on August 9. Fishing days are Friday/Saturday. Lines in at 8 a.m. and out at 3 p.m. This event is designed to be fun, all release and open to boats of any size. Book your place now, come for the Captains meeting and experience first hand the art of circle hook rigging ballyhoo by noted area fisherman.

If you find yourself looking for an Ocean Isle Beach hotel where you can stay during the tournament, be sure to check out Sunset Inn in nearby Sunset Beach. You simply won’t find any Ocean Isle Beach hotel that can provide you with the level of comfort and quality that our accommodations can.
